Frank did not know what he was getting into when he rode into Tombstone with Billy Clanton on October 26th. He soon found out that his brother, Tom had been beaten up by Wyatt Earp earlier in the day and that Ike was running around town threatening the Earps and Holliday.I don't think that Frank rode into town that day hoping for a showdown with the Earps.(the cowboys preffered to shoot the Earps in the back as we learn later on.) Make no mistake about it though....Frank did not like the Earps. The Earps where involved when stolen government mules were found at the Mclaury Ranch. This made Frank's blood boil, he placed a notice in the paper saying he was inocent all charges. (even though they were changing the brands on the mules when the Earps showed up!) Frank would fight for his life in the shootout only to see the instigator running away.
